    Administrative Arrangement on technical cooperation signed with DCST (MOA), China

    Administrative Arrangement on technical cooperation between DCST (MOA), CHINA and CPVO

    The Development Centre of Science and Technology (DCST), Ministry of Agriculture, People’s Republic of China, and the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) have decided on 15 November 2017 to initiate technical cooperation in the area of plant variety rights. The DCST is the Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture responsible for registering plant variety rights for agricultural and vegetable crops and for a range of fruit and ornamental species in the People’s Republic of China

    At the meeting on 4 October 2017, the members of the Administrative Council elected the new Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the AC, the new Chairman of the Audit Advisory Board, and adopted several important documents for the upcoming years:

    Following the notice of 7 July 2017, an update is hereby presented about the "New Species Procedure" organised by CPVO. The purpose of that procedure was to ensure that, as from 30 March 2019 at the latest, an entrustment of Examination Offices in the Union takes place for 324 botanical taxa for which an actual application for a Community Plant Variety Right

    Announcement n◦ 4/2017 of the Community Plant Variety Office. Decision of the Administrative Council of the Community Plant Variety Office on test guidelines 04/10/2017

    Technical examinations which are initiated or are to be approved by the Community Plant Variety Office must be performed in accordance with the test guidelines which have been adopted by the Administrative Council. Technical examinations started prior to the decision are not affected unless otherwise announced. The plant species concerned as well as the date of the decision are accordingly published in the Official Gazette of the Office.     Technical examination of plant varieties in the EU plant variety protection system - Webinars on 14 & 15 November

    In cooperation with the EU IP Helpdesk, the CPVO will organise two webinars on 14 & 15 November 2019 focussing on the technical examination (DUS tests) of varieties applying for Community Plant Variety Rights.

    The webinars will show in detail how the CPVO carries out technical examination in general, and with a particular focus on specificities applied for seed propagated species (webinar n°1) and for vegetatively propagated plant species (webinar n°2).

    Avoid fraudulent payment requests

    Many clients reported they receive an increasing amount of unsolicited mail from a “so called” staff member of CPVO usurping her/his identity, requesting payment for invoices.

    If you receive suspicious or unsolicited e-mail messages, never follow links or open attachments, and never  transfer funds until you have checked that the source is official.

    The CPVO never sends that kind of emails.

    Notice to breeders subject to the Union legislation on Plant Variety Rights (Council Regulation (EC) No 2100/94)

        

    The United Kingdom submitted on 29 March 2017 the notification of its intention to withdraw from the Union pursuant to Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union[1]. This means that unless the withdrawal agreement establishes another date or the period is extended by the European Council in accordance with Article 50(3) of the Treaty on European Union, all Union primary and secondary law ceases to apply to the United Kingdom from 30 March 2019, 00:00h (CET). The United Kingdom would then become a 'third country'.
