    Signature of an Administrative Arrangement with Taiwan

    The Council of Agriculture of  Taiwan and the Community Plant Variety Office sign an Administrative Arrangement on mutual Recognition of Examination Results for Plant Variety Protection of orchid varieties (Phalaenopsis and Doritaenopsis )

    On 26 April 2019, Director General, Jong-i HU, Agriculture and Food Agency, Council of Agriculture of Taiwan and Martin Ekvad, President of the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) signed an Administrative Arrangement on the mutual recognition of examination results for plant variety protection for Phalaenopsis and Doritaenopsis

    Announcement n◦ 1/2019 of the Community Plant Variety Office. Decision of the Administrative Council of the Community Plant Variety Office on test guidelines 19/03/2019

    Technical examinations which are initiated or are to be approved by the Community Plant Variety Office must be performed in accordance with the test guidelines which have been adopted by the Administrative Council. Technical examinations started prior to the decision are not affected unless otherwise announced. The plant species concerned as well as the date of the decision are accordingly published in the Official Gazette of the Office. The technical protocol can be consulted through the website of the Office, or upon request can be transmitted by the Office. Technical questionnaires

    Public consultation on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in third countries

    The European Commission (DG Trade) has launched a public consultation to gather information on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property (IP) in non-EU countries. 

    The aim of this public consultation is to identify third countries in which intellectual property rights (IPR) protection and enforcement is a high concern, as well as to update the European Commission's list of the 'priority countries.'

    This consultation will be one of the tools used by the Commission to focus its efforts on the priority countries and help on specific areas of

    IPM ESSEN 2019: World's leading trade fair for horticulture

    At IPM Essen, from January 22 to 25, 2019, the CPVO will present all about EU plant breeders' rights together with the Bundessortenamt (BSA), the French Variety and Seed study and control group (GEVES), the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB) and the Netherlands Inspection Service for Horticulture (Naktuinbouw) for technical examinations (Hall 2.0 Stand 2B23).

    INVITE successful!

    The CPVO is proud to announce that on 11 December 2018 the Commission communicated its decision to grant funds in relation to the call SFS-29-2018 “Innovations in plant variety testing” of the Horizon 2020 program to the consortium INVITE[1] (INnovations in plant VarIety Testing in Europe). CPVO together with 26 partners across Europe from various sectors ranging from research, breeding, DUS examination [2] to performance testing for both conventional and organic farming, participate in INVITE. INVITE is coordinated by the French research organization INRA. The

    New data protection rules for EU institutions, agencies and bodies

    The way EU institutions, agencies and bodies, including the CPVO, deal with personal data has just changed. These changes are introduced by the new data protection Regulation for EU institutions, agencies and bodies (Regulation 2018/1725), applicable as of 11 December 2018.

    The new rules give you more control over your data. They are designed to ensure personal information is protected, no matter where it is sent, processed or stored.
