In cooperation with the European IP Helpdesk, the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) organised two webinars explaining the process and requirements for technical examinations (DUS tests) of plant varieties applying for Community Plant Variety Rights. This webinar (Part I) is presented by Anne Weitz, CPVO's technical expert for agriculture species, who explains how the CPVO carries out technical examinations with a particular focus on seed propagated species.

In this newly released video interview, CPVO President Martin Ekvad speaks about the major successes and challenges of the Community Plant Variety Office, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2020.

Among the subjects covered, Martin Ekvad highlights the benefits of the European Union system for Plant Variety Protection (CPVR), explains CPVO's international outreach activities, and describes its involvement in the Horizon2020 INVITE R&D project. This webinar also outlines how this CPVR "naming" process fits with the rules and recommendations of the International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP).
