    Announcement n◦ 3/2020 of the Community Plant Variety Office. Decision of the Administrative Council of the Community Plant Variety Office on test guidelines 06/03 and 21/04/2020

    Technical examinations which are initiated or are to be approved by the Community Plant Variety Office must be performed in accordance with the test guidelines which have been adopted by the Administrative Council. Technical examinations started prior to the decision are not affected unless otherwise announced. The plant species concerned as well as the date of the decision are accordingly published in the Official Gazette of the Office.     Video: DUS technical examination

    In the context of a webinar organised with Végépolys Valley to explain the European Union's PVR system, the Community Plant Variety Office has produced together with GEVES a short video explaining the technical examination (DUS) process for candidate varieties of Hydrangea. The video is currently available in French and the full webinar recorded today by Végépolys Valley will be made available on the CPVO website in September.

    CPVO Annual report 2019

    The CPVO Annual report 2019 provides information on the CPVO priorities and achievements in the fields of R & D, international outreach, and the digital transformation of its core business activities, as well as on its finances and budget.

    In 2019, the CPVO received 3 525 applications for Community plant variety right protection, reaching more 3 500 applications in a calendar year for the third time in the CPVO's history.

    New Call For Board of Appeal Members - Start date: February 2021

    The CPVO calls for 20 Board of Appeal Members. 

    The successful candidates will be appointed by the Administrative Council.

    They will not be employed by the CPVO but will - as per needed in appeal cases -  be selected by the Chairman of the CPVO Board of Appeal.

    Please note: Remuneration is on assignment. EU servants are not remunerated on the basis of an outside activity; when selected, they need to file a mission request with their EU employer.

    All users of the CPVO services and applicants to Community Plant Variety Rights can now have an overview of the denomination situation over their files and submit their denominations proposals online.

    COVID-19

    CPVO decision of 27 April 2020 concerning the extension of time limits

    On 27 April 2020 the President of the Community Plant Variety Office took a Decision concerning the extension of time limits for proceedings before the CPVO.

    The Decision is applicable as of 4 May 2020 and concerns the deadlines for the payment of the annual fee (Article 9 fees regulation) and the payment of examinations fees (Article 8 fees regulation). Any other time limits regarding proceedings with the CPVO are not affected by this decision.

    In practice users are encouraged to pay all invoices for annual fees and fees for technical examinations within the normal
