Technical examinations which are initiated or are to be approved by the Community Plant Variety Office must be performed in accordance with the test guidelines which have been adopted by the Administrative Council. Technical examinations started prior to the decision are not affected unless otherwise announced. The plant species concerned as well as the date of the decision are accordingly published in the Official Gazette of the Office. Council Regulation (EC) No 2100/94 of 27 July 1994 on Community plant variety

We would like to inform our stakeholders that the vacancy notice for the role of President of the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (Ref: CA 379, 10 November 2020).

The post is available from 1 September 2021 for an initial mandate of 5 years, with a possible extension for a maximum period of 5 years according to the Regulation establishing the Office as applicable at the time of appointment. The place of employment is Angers, (France), where the CPVO is based.

On 30 September 2020, the Administrative Council of the Community Plant Variety Office held its first entirely virtual meeting since the establishment of the CPVO in 1995.

During the meeting, the members of the Administrative Council elected their new Chair and Deputy Chair for the period 2020 - 2023. The new Chair is Mr. Marien Valstar from The Netherlands, who was previously Deputy Chair, and the new Deputy Chair is Dr. José Antonio Sobrino Maté, from Spain. Both assignments took effect on 5 October 2020.
