    The attention of applicants is drawn to the fact that as from 2004, Community plant variety rights technical examinations for fruit varieties will no longer be carried out in the United Kingdom. Any varieties currently under test by the British authorities will nonetheless finalise their testing there.  Future apple and pear applications will be tested either by GEVES in France or the Bundessortenamt in Germany.
