Following an open competition, the Council of the European Union nominated last July 2011 Ms Sari Kaarina HAUKKA as alternate to the Chairman of the Board of Appeal of the CPVO, Mr. Paul van der Kooij.  Ms Haukka has been appointed for 5 years; her term shall run from the 15th October 2011.

Following an open competition, the Council of the EU decided on 12 July 2011, on the basis of a proposal from the European Commission drawn up after obtaining the opinion of the Administration Council of the CPVO, to appoint Martin EKVAD, as president of the CPVO for a period of five years.
