    CPVO’s vision towards 2026

    CPVO’s vision towards 2026, the Strategic Plan of the Community Plant Variety Office for the period 2022-2026, has been published today.

    The Strategic Plan 2022-2026 provides an overall vision and outlines the priorities and focus areas of the CPVO in the years to come. The document is also a key element of our performance management framework, helping ensure that the CPVO achieves its objectives in an efficient, effective, and consistent manner.

    CPVO starts new cooperation with the International Chamber of Commerce’s Italian Committee

    The Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) and the Italian Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Italia) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which entered into force on 19 October 2022.

    This MoU has a duration of 3 years and establishes areas of cooperation in relevant thematic matters and activities of mutual interest, mainly related to the project ICC Agri-Food Hubs.

    The cooperation will primarily consist in joint advocacy and information campaigns aimed at raising awareness on relevant policies and practices in the field of plant variety

    Annual Report 2021

    The CPVO Annual report 2021 provides information on the CPVO priorities and achievements in the fields of R & D, international outreach, and the digital transformation of its core business activities, as well as on its finances and budget.

    The CPVO Annual report is illustrated with infographics, statistics and charts covering all aspects of the Community Plant Variety Rights (CPVRs) system. In 2021, the CPVO received 3 480 applications for Community plant variety right protection and granted 2 859 CPVRs.

    The Community Plant Variety Office (hereinafter referred to as ‘the CPVO’ or ‘the Office’) is an independent EU Agency, established by Council Regulation (EC) No 2100/94 of 27 July 1994 on Community plant variety rights, which also provides for the establishment of one or more Boards of Appeal within the Office.

    Announcement n◦ 2/2022 of the Community Plant Variety Office. Decision of the Administrative Council of the Community Plant Variety Office on test guidelines 27/04/2022

    Technical examinations which are initiated or are to be approved by the Community Plant Variety Office must be performed in accordance with the test guidelines which have been adopted by the Administrative Council. Technical examinations started prior to the decision are not affected unless otherwise announced. The plant species concerned as well as the date of the decision are accordingly published in the Official Gazette of the Office.     Vacancy notice for the role of Vice-President of CPVO

    We would like to inform our stakeholders that the vacancy notice for the role of Vice-President of the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (Ref: CA 221, 7 June 2022).

    The Vice-President will assist the President in his functions and powers, in particular as regards representing the CPVO and ensuring its leadership, management and strategic direction.

    The post is available an initial mandate of 5 years, with a possible extension for a maximum period of 5 years according to the Regulation establishing

    Surveying SMEs on the revision of the plant & forest reproductive material legislation

    In the context of the revision of the plant and forest reproductive material legislation, the Health and Food Safety Directorate-General of the European Commission (DG SANTE) launched a short survey addressed to EU small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are active in breeding new plant varieties, multiplication and/or trade of seed and other reproductive material (agricultural crops, vegetables, fruit plants, ornamentals, forestry species).
