    Last week, our dedicated team from the Plant Variety Expertise Unit participated in the 2023 Vegetable Expert Meeting. Special thanks to the European Commission and DG Sante for providing a state-of-the-art meeting room in Brussels.

    The Evolution of Plant Variety Protection in the Era of New Breeding Techniques

    On October 27, 2023, Orsola Lamberti, Legal Officer at the CPVO was among the panelists of a seminar organized by Assosementi in Bologna, Italy.

    Meeting of the EESC Section (NAT) - Orientation debate on Plants obtained by New Genomic Techniques with CPVO's participation

    In the context of the development of its opinion on Plants produced by new genomic techniques, linked to the recently published EC proposal for a new Regulation, the Section for Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment (NAT Section) of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) held an orientation debate with its Members on Thursday 7 September 2023 in Brussels.

    CPVO President Francesco Mattina's key participation in MEP Christophe Clergeau's visit to IRHS: fostering innovation and sustainability

    Developing continuous knowledge and staying at the forefront of research advancements is the daily bread of an agency like the CPVO. Today provided an opportunity for Member of the European Parliament Christophe Clergeau to be a part of this, as he visited the IRHS (Institute of Research in Horticulture and Seeds) to meet with researchers working on genome editing.

    The IRHS is a Joint Research Unit (UMR 1345) under the supervision of INRAE, the Rennes-Angers Agro Institute and the University of Angers.

    Unlocking Innovation: SME Fund Offers IP Protection Vouchers and Exclusive Webinars!

    The SME Fund is a European Commission initiative implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and will run from 23 January 2023 to 8 December 2023. This fund provides vouchers for intellectual property protection to small and medium-sized enterprises within the EU. 

    For the first time, the SME Fund also helps SMEs to apply for protection with the Community Plant Variety Office, with the aim of stimulating innovation, development, and investment in this sector.

    Announcement n◦ 3/2023 of the Community Plant Variety Office. Decision of the Administrative Council of the Community Plant Variety Office on test guidelines 30/05/2023

    Technical examinations which are initiated or are to be approved by the Community Plant Variety Office must be performed in accordance with the test guidelines which have been adopted by the Administrative Council. Technical examinations started prior to the decision are not affected unless otherwise announced. The plant species concerned as well as the date of the decision are accordingly published in the Official Gazette of the Office. The technical protocol can be consulted through the website of the Office, or upon request can be transmitted by the Office. Technical questionnaires
