    New President of the Community Plant Variety Office takes up office

    On 01 February 2022, Francesco Mattina took up his duties as President of the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), the European Union (EU) agency responsible for granting plant variety rights, after being appointed to this role by the Council of the European Union on 20 December 2021.

    Francesco Mattina, a 51-year-old Italian national specialised in EU law and in Intellectual Property law, joined the CPVO in 2013 after gaining international experience in private law firms as a partner and in the EU public sector as a senior legal advisor in industrial property at the EU Agency

    IP Key China Webinar: Plant Variety Protection awareness raising seminar

    EU Industry Days is Europe’s flagship annual event, highlighting industrial frontrunners and ongoing industrial policy discussions whilst improving the knowledge base of European industry.

    INPI: International conference on intellectual property

    In light of France’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the French Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) is organizing a conference on 3 February 2022 on the industrial property challenges associated with the economic recovery.

    During this presidency, the French government aims to contribute to a more united, more sovereign Europe. It also aims to ensure that Europe “exploits the full potential of the economic recovery and of the ecological and digital transition”.
