    By creating modern, innovative plant varieties plant breeders are contributing significantly to one of the basic needs of society: enough healthy food that is produced at reasonable prices in an efficient and environment-friendly way. Plant breeding however, is a time-consuming and costly endeavour with a development time between 5 to 12 years and a re-investment of an average 15% of the annual turnover into R&D. Breeders therefore need strong and effective IP protection for their innovations.

    Publication of the CPVO centralised Register of Data Protection Records

    As from 15 April 2021, the CPVO counts on a publicly accessible centralised Register of Records of processing activities being carried out within the remit of the Office where personal data are processed. Making available the centralised Register of Records to the public at large is a legal obligation for European Union Institutions, Bodies, and agencies, based on Article 31(5) of Regulation (EU) 2018/1725 (“EUDPR”).
