    CPVO's Notes for Applicants: update 2020

    The CPVO Notes for Applicants have been updated to reflect the changes which happens at the beginning of 2020.

    Changes include:

    revision of the paragraph on the designation of a Procedural Representative (paragraph 5.4), revision of the Chapter 14 -procedure of surrenders and withdrawals (use of ‘MyPVR’), revision of the Chapter 12 on appeals, a new Chapter 13 on ‘Restitutio in integrum’. one new UPOV country listed: Egypt (in Annex 1).

    Webinar: Technical examination of plant varieties applying for CPVR. Part II: Vegetatively propagated species

    In cooperation with the European IP Helpdesk, the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) organised two webinars explaining the process and requirements for technical examinations (DUS tests) of plant varieties applying for Community Plant Variety Rights. This webinar (Part II) is presented by Jens Wegner, CPVO's technical expert for ornamental and fruit species, who explains how the CPVO carries out technical examinations with a particular focus on vegetatively propagated species.

    Farm-Saved Seed Seminar, 4 March 2020 in Tartu, Estonia

    On 4 March 2020 a seminar focusing on Farm-Saved Seed will take place in Tartu, Estonia. The seminar is organised by the CPVO in cooperation with the Estonian Ministry of Rural Affairs and the Estonian Agricultural Board.

    The main objective of the seminar is to enhance the understanding of farmers regarding the Farm-Saved Seed (FSS) system in Estonia and surrounding countries where breeders face challenges in collecting royalties on FSS from protected varieties. The seminar will focus on the situation in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Finland.

    IPM ESSEN 2020: the World's leading trade fair for horticulture

    The CPVO will be present at IPM Essen, Germany, from 28 to 31 January 2020 where we will hold a joint booth together with the Bundessortenamt (BSA), the French Variety and Seed Study and Control Group (GEVES) and the Netherlands Inspection Service for Horticulture (Naktuinbouw).

    Visitors looking for information on how to obtain a plant variety right valid on the whole territory of the European Union and how to prepare for technical examination are welcome to visit our booth and ask their questions to our experts (Hall 2.0 Stand 2B23).
