About the Fund

The Ideas Powered for Business SME Fund is a European Commission initiative implemented by the EUIPO. It aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in protecting their intellectual property rights by providing financial vouchers for plant variety applications and other IP services. 

Voucher 4 is a grant under the EUIPO SME Fund specifically supporting plant breeders applying for a Community Plant Variety Right.
It reimburses up to 75% of CPVO examination and application fees, with a maximum support of EUR 1,500 per SME.
Its objective is to lower financial barriers so smaller breeders can protect new plant varieties at EU level. 🌱

The SME Fund covers 75% of both the online application fee (€450) and the technical examination fee. *Up to a maximum limit of €1,500 per beneficiary.

Mandatory Application Steps

 

Step 1 • Mandatory

Register & Apply for Voucher 4

Create an account on the EUIPO SME Fund portal. Submit your application for "Voucher 4" with your VAT certificate and bank statement.

Go to SME Fund Portal 

 

Step 2

Wait for Grant Decision

Do not apply to CPVO yet! Wait for confirmation email (approx. 15 days).

 

Step 3

File CPVO Application

File your application on the CPVO website and pay the fees upfront.

Step 4

Claim Reimbursement

Return to the SME Fund portal and upload your payment proof to get 75% back.
