On 9 December 2024, the President of Community Plant Variety Office Francesco Mattina formalized the the Headquarters Agreement between the Agency and the French Government. The signing ceremony was held at CPVO headquarters in Angers, France.
CPVO is the first decentralized agency of the European Union to be placed in France, established in 1994, and has been operational since 1995, ensuring legal protection for farmers and breeding across Europe, promoting sustainability and scientific progress.
Stronger Regional Connections
The agreement deepens our ties with the city of Angers and the Maine-et-Loire region, known internationally as a hub for horticulture and plant sciences. It reinforces the CPVO’s integration into the local innovation and economic ecosystems, contributing to the local economy and scientific progress. The Office is in good collaboration with Angers municipality, the Mayor of Angers and with other national and regional French authorities while we are honored to host various high-level events at institutional premises.
Collaboration with French Universities
CPVO works closely with French universities, lyceums and high schools in the region. The Office regularly accommodate students’ visits to showcase the nature of its work, to promote EU values and also to inform young people on the various traineeship opportunities that are available to graduates for a successful career start. CVPO experts are used to deliver presentations in high schools in Angers and our experts are warmly welcomed as a speakers on various occasions.
Ties with Local Community
CPVO has already a long history is contributing to various activities within the local communities for the benefit of all citizens. CPVO staff members participate in charity events, Christmas donation campaigns, clean-up initiatives and other awareness campaigns that show our deep integration into France being a host country for the Agency.
